A dedicated room in our home serves as the main Cattery. Designed with breeding needs in mind, We have several collapsible kennels we use when needed on one side of the room. This provides the space for Bee's custom-made nesting box when needed. When the kittens are old enough, we remove the nesting box, increasing the play space area in the cattery room.
They are never locked in their kennels for more than an hour at a time, and only when it's necessary. The doors are open 24/7 allowing them free access to the house. The cattery room can be closed off from the rest of the house when needed. We frequently find them in the cattery room sitting on their cat posts gazing out the window or napping in their kennels.
The cattery room is installed with a 24/7 day/night vision ViewCube camera that allows us to see & talk to them wherever we are, including when we are away from home. In addition to the dedicated cattery room, they also have free access to our home, a large covered deck, an outside Catio enclosure and large green-spaces to dwell in during the warmer seasons.
We have upgraded our cattery room to include these custom made powder coated professional level kennels. There are 4 kennels in total which turn into 2 large ones when the inner barriers are removed.
The "suites" as we like to call them, are spacious in both width & height allowing for them to move around freely.
When the round barriers are removed, we use one side as a dedicated litter side and the other for their beds, perch and feeding area. We love knowing that their litter area is separated! All 4 kennels lock for safety.
More pictures of the inner area's of kennels are posted in the gallery.
The kennels are perfect for separating cats when needed such as meal times, and for our kittens when healing from spay/neuter surgeries.
The outside catio is located in our large private backyard. Our home sits on a 1/3 acre lot with tiered gardens, fruit trees, large green spaces and plenty of striking wildlife. Bo & Bee spend a great deal of time in the backyard with us on their leads. When we can't supervise them closely, they're put in their secure catio.
Designed with a floorless bottom section for the litter box, it has 2 levels with 2 tiered perches. The catio is very spacious, well-ventilated with a metal roof. It provides just the right amount of sunshine in the front and lots of shade in the back while ensuring they are safe & secure. The Catio is fully functional with a recent fresh coat of paint on the walls & flooring and carpet installed for their comfort.
When they aren't on their leads outside with us, you'll find Bo & Bee on the large covered deck that's been enclosed with mesh for their safety. The deck faces east providing early morning sun and afternoon shade. An entry door off the kitchen gives them free access to the deck. They love to perch on their cat posts and watch the birds bathing in the bird bath below. They can also wander to the other side of the deck for naps on the patio furniture. During the warmer season, the caged playpen for the kittens is moved to the deck, but in their absence, Bo & Bee will frequently hop in for a snooze. Bo & Bee are never caged in the kitten playpen. The doors to the playpen are always open.
